Today's section is all about looking at the end of World War II. As you complete the short read, think about the reasons that we dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. Think about why, after so much fighting, the United States went through so much trouble to help put Western Europe and Japan back together again. Why do you think the Soviet Union essentially took over Eastern Europe? And also think about the ways the end of World War II differed from the ways World War I ended.
