14.2: Psychoanalytic Theory

Today we are going to start an examination of the Psychoanalytic theories of personality. The big heavy hitter in Psychoanalytic thought is Sigmund Freud, and his ideas can be a little out there. I will give a couple of days for this section, and while I have assigned reading the whole section today, if you just want to read about Freud and  call it quits and chew on his ideas, that's okay too. Pay particular attention to the Id, Ego, and Superego: how they relate to one another and how they work together. Also, know the defense mechanisms Freud proposed.

Please keep in mind that I will start reviewing work for this class and giving credit for work turned in during the school shutdown this week. Please make sure that you are catching up and stay current. If there is a problem, I will reach out. Remember:

Before break ( 3/16/20-4/3/20): Students are responsible for Journals only. They are to be submitted in Google                                                                                           Classroom, and are marked with a Question Mark on the Classwork page.

Song of the day

As I am formatting and getting ready to post today's work, I look out the window and see how gray it is outside. It will rain, and given the current situation, it's a bit depressing. So today's SOTD is designed to chase the depression and blues away. I have been listening to Jason Mraz for a long time now, but I didn't fully appreciate him until I saw him live in Windsor last summer. they guy put on a show that was two hours of constant positivity and good vibes. I felt good for a week after seeing his show and this song is one of the reasons why. I didn't know it until the concert, but he wrote this for a lifelong friend who developed cancer, fought it, and beat it. This is The Remedy, by Jason Mraz.
